[ Here's a weird thing: The girl in the bright red cape is speaking perfect English. Or is she? She's also obtained a cell phone, which has a tiny screen for something being used to communicate on a daily basis. Holograms or bust, guys. ]

Maybe this is a silly question, but I'm wondering why everyone is suddenly speaking Kryptonian?

[Forgive her. She's staring way too close at the screen right now. She's from the 19th century, so her grasp of this technology is hit and miss at best. Behind her, snow can barely be seen falling, some of it glittering in her pale hair.]

Yes, Kryptonian is my native language, from the planet Krypton. [ Which doesn't exist anymore so this is really kind of... unsettling. ]

It's possible there's translation technology in these communication devices, but they seem pretty primitive to me. And one of the natives explained where I could find one and what it's used for. In Kryptonian. I think.

People actually live on other planets? Is it beyond Saturn? I do not even think that we know of a planet beyond that in the night sky.

[Yeah, there might be a bit to explain here, Kara. Neptune's discovery wasn't going to be for another twenty years. Stars were pretty lights. Not necessarily worlds countless light years away.]

I don't know where Saturn is, but Earth is far enough from Krypton that I'd never heard of it until my pod crashed here.

I must admit that I find it hard to believe, though here we are on a world none of us know. I cannot imagine someone living on another planet. How would one even travel that far?

I don't really know much about Earth. Or this whole system, really. I only got here a few days ago.

Well, [She's still talking to her over the coms even though she's right behind her.] It's more a multiple universe thing, so there are other Kryptons and stuff. I think we just use Earth as a base since everyone I've talked to about it lives on Earth. Like there's a Kara I know from Earth 2. It's it's own self-contained universe, People I know just sort of ... cross them sometimes. [It's ok to talk about this with a Kara, right?]

The reason is because I kinda took the throne for the whole God of Communication thing. So basically, let's just say that nobody's really speaking your native language... it's like the God powers acting like a translation app.

I don't know what language you think you're speaking, but it sounds like Kryptonian to me. Definitely not whatever Earth language you were using before.

Second, what do you mean by 'Earth language?' All languages are 'Earth languages!'

You really don't think other planets developed their own languages? I didn't even know Earth existed until I crash-landed there. If your people had the technology to make it that kind of distance you wouldn't be using these tiny screens to communicate.
