Hello? I'm told this is how your city communicates?
[ Here's a weird thing: The girl in the bright red cape is speaking perfect English. Or is she? She's also obtained a cell phone, which has a tiny screen for something being used to communicate on a daily basis. Holograms or bust, guys. ]
Maybe this is a silly question, but I'm wondering why everyone is suddenly speaking Kryptonian?

Oh! You are speaking my native tongue now! [No, that's not right.] Is this device perhaps translating for us?
I take it that Kryptonian is your language?

Hi. Uh... Elsa, right? [ She learned so many names and English words that it's hard to keep them all straight. ]
Yes, Kryptonian is my native language, from the planet Krypton. [ Which doesn't exist anymore so this is really kind of... unsettling. ]
It's possible there's translation technology in these communication devices, but they seem pretty primitive to me. And one of the natives explained where I could find one and what it's used for. In Kryptonian. I think.

Pardon me, but you did say "Planet Krypton," did you not?

[Yeah, there might be a bit to explain here, Kara. Neptune's discovery wasn't going to be for another twenty years. Stars were pretty lights. Not necessarily worlds countless light years away.]

[Video, because she can]
That's because Spiderman is rocking communications now.
[She will never take that seriously. Especially with the kid walking around in street clothes with the mask on. So, so teenager green. But adorable all the same. It's nice to know that kids can still be innocent. Will is, but at the same time, he's more hardened by everything that's happened to him. Seemingly unlike Spiderman.]
Everything is being translated into whatever your native language is. By the way, I'm Felicity and now that we can actually talk, I was trying to ask what Earth you were from.

[ Are we sure they're all speaking the same language, because now Kara is incredibly confused. ]
What's a Spiderman? [ Translation technology she understands, but the rest? ]
And what do you mean, what Earth? I thought there was just the one?
no subject
[And shit, she doesn't know about the multiverse.]
There's a ton actually. Like, I know another Kara from Earth 2. Hence the hugging when I saw you.
no subject
I don't really know much about Earth. Or this whole system, really. I only got here a few days ago.
no subject
It's more a multiple universe thing, so there are other Kryptons and stuff. I think we just use Earth as a base since everyone I've talked to about it lives on Earth.
Like there's a Kara I know from Earth 2. It's it's own self-contained universe, People I know just sort of ... cross them sometimes.
[It's ok to talk about this with a Kara, right?]

[ She huffs and puts the phone down to look at the real Felicity. ]
These screens are tiny. Why don't you just use projections?

Voice then video:
(A boy wearing a hoodie and a mask appears on the screen.)
The reason is because I kinda took the throne for the whole God of Communication thing. So basically, let's just say that nobody's really speaking your native language... it's like the God powers acting like a translation app.
video;
[ Okay but back up please? ]
When you say 'god powers'... I thought the thrones were just system control consoles.
Re: video;
But it sounds cool that way and it means we can talk to each other?
(Wait.)
Huh? How do you know who I am? Um, I mean, hello?
video;
I'm Kara.
Re: video;
(A nervous chuckle follows that.)
More like... I'm sitting there and trying to not mess up. (He sounds as if he's grinning under his mask.) Nice to meet you, Kara.
video;
[ Then what does it mean... Did Felicity mean literally rocking the throne back and forth? ]
Well, thank you, either way. I learned a few Earth words but I still couldn't really figure out what was going on.

He doesn't look too pleased.]
I thought you didn't know this language. Why the hell did you put up that act when we met?
Video
I don't know what language you think you're speaking, but it sounds like Kryptonian to me. Definitely not whatever Earth language you were using before.
Video
First of all, I am clearly speaking Amestrian right now. I don't know any other languages.
Second, what do you mean by 'Earth language?' All languages are 'Earth languages!'
Video
[ Ok but like that second part... is so incredibly narrow-minded. ]
You really don't think other planets developed their own languages? I didn't even know Earth existed until I crash-landed there. If your people had the technology to make it that kind of distance you wouldn't be using these tiny screens to communicate.
Video
What?!
[Ed's eyes narrow. No, she couldn't be serious.]
You've got to be kidding me.
